Make Your Own Alfredo Sauce
Leisa Sutton
This is the same "make the convenience food yourself" trick as the brownie mix — because once you realize how much of the grocery store is just pre-mixed pantry staples with a markup, it's hard to go back.

Ingredients
1
cup
nonfat dry milk powder
1
cup
grated parmesan cheese
1/2
cup
cornstarch
1
tbsp
garlic powder
1
tsp
onion powder
2
tsp
salt
1/2
tsp
black pepper
Instructions
Mix and Store It
Combine all the dry ingredients well, making sure nothing's clumped in a corner of the bowl.
Transfer to a jar with a tight-fitting lid.
Store somewhere cool and dry, or pop it in the fridge, and it'll hold for up to 3 months.
Make a double batch while you're at it. Future you, mid-pasta-craving on a Tuesday, will send a silent thank-you.
Turning Mix Into Sauce
Whisk 1/2 cup of the dry mix with 1 cup of cold milk in a saucepan.
Add 2 tablespoons of butter.
Keep stirring until it thickens up into that silky, restaurant-worthy sauce you were craving.
