The Homemade Bisquick Mix That Actually Replaces Bisquick
Here’s a fun fact about the little blue Bisquick box: it’s flour, fat, baking powder, and salt. That’s it. That’s the secret. You’ve been paying $5–$6 for four ingredients you already keep in your pantry, portioned out for you in a cardboard box with a smiling picture of pancakes on the front.
So let’s just… not do that anymore.
This is an all-purpose baking mix you make once, keep on the shelf, and pull out anytime a recipe calls for Bisquick — pancakes, biscuits, dumplings, cobbler, coffee cake, all of it. Same ratio, same convenience, none of the markup.
Why Bother Making Your Own
Because “1 cup Bisquick” is one of the most common ingredients in a certain kind of quick, comforting, feed-the-whole-family recipe — and there’s no reason it has to come from a box.
- It’s cheaper. You’re already buying flour and baking powder in bulk. This just means you’re not paying extra for someone else to combine them for you.
- It’s shelf-stable and pantry-ready. Mix it once, and it’s sitting there waiting the next time you need pancakes at 7am or biscuits at 6pm.
- It’s flexible.
- You control the fat. Shortening, butter, or shelf-stable butter powder — your call, your texture, your shelf life.
One bowl. One jar. A whole rotation of recipes on standby.
