🧈 1. Better Flavor

Butter powder brings that rich, buttery taste we all love—without the artificial flavor or greasiness of shortening or oil. It gives your mix a homemade flavor that rivals (and beats) store-bought.

🧁 2. Cleaner Ingredients

Many DIY Bisquick recipes rely on shelf-stable oils or shortening, which often contain hydrogenated fats or preservatives. Butter powder is made from real butter and can be sourced with simple, recognizable ingredients.

🏡 3. Shelf Stable but Still “Real”

Butter powder gives you the convenience of long-term storage without compromising on real-food quality. Unlike fresh butter, it won’t go rancid quickly—and unlike shortening, it doesn’t feel like a science experiment.

🍽 4. Superior Texture

Butter creates a lighter, more tender crumb in biscuits, pancakes, and waffles. Shortening can leave baked goods dense or greasy. With butter powder, you get that flakiness and tenderness every time.

⏱ 5. One-Step Convenience

No need to cut in butter when you’re ready to cook—it’s already built in! Just scoop, mix, and go. This makes for faster prep on busy mornings or last-minute meals.

🧂 6. More Versatile

Because butter powder blends easily with the other dry ingredients, you can use the mix in sweet or savory dishes. It’s neutral enough for biscuits and dumplings, but rich enough for cobblers and muffins.

🧼 7. Less Mess, No Waste

No greasy wrappers or half-used sticks of butter to deal with. No need to wash pastry cutters or food processors. Just clean, easy measuring.

💰 8. Cost-Effective Over Time

While butter powder may seem pricier upfront, the ability to make a large batch of shelf-stable mix saves you money compared to buying refrigerated butter, store-bought mixes, or tossing spoiled dairy.

🥶 9. No Refrigeration Required

Perfect for prepping or keeping on hand for emergencies. Butter powder keeps your mix pantry-ready and non-perishable—great for power outages, RV life, or just skipping a grocery trip.

👩‍🍳 10. Taste-Test Approved

In side-by-side comparisons, recipes made with butter powder-based Bisquick consistently win on taste, texture, and satisfaction. It’s the pantry staple you’ll actually look forward to using.

  1. A question – how well would this work with some of the AP flour being replaced by whole wheat? I know whole wheat doesn’t last as long, but I love the flavor.

I don’t see why not, but you’ll have to play with it to get the consistency you want.
